A friend brought over some silver plated serving pieces last week for me to keep or sale in my booth. They were all tarnished and needed to be shined. I had not shined silver in forever. I soon realized why that was always a chore when I was a kid! Wow.. It is hard to get that stuff clean… but then a thought came to mind… check Pinterest! I knew there would be an easier way. Sure enough I saw where you mix water, baking soda, salt and a piece of tin foil in a pot and bring to a boil and then submerge the silver pieces for a minute. It worked great. While I was polishing the silver I also thought about how our lives can be like tarnished silver. We are made perfect by a perfect God but when we wander away from His path by our choices, we become tarnished. Our lives can feel dark, lonely, unhappy and unfulfilled. But He is always there waiting for us to come back to Him where He will cleanse our hearts and make us whole.
This weekend I made some flower and herb markers from old silver flatware. ( I shined these the hard way!) They will be for sale at the Beehive soon.
Since Today was Fat Tuesday I made some Jambalaya. I found this recipe for the crock pot and happened to have everything I needed on hand. It was good and made so much!!! I told Zach we were going to have to eat it for the rest of the week.
For desert I made some clover cookies with a glaze.
These frozen sugar cookies from GFS are by far my favorite cookie. Each holiday they come in different shapes and have 72 cookies per box for $9. Tonight I made a glaze for them that I found on Pinterest. I would highly recommending trying them!
Hope everyone has a great (short) week!
