Treasure Hunting

During the last few months I have been so ready for yard sale season to restart. Ever Saturday morning Zach and I get up early and head out to see what we can find. We have a booth in the World’s Longest Yard Sale in August on Signal Mountain so, we buy all year for that and my booth at the Beehive. There are two great Estate Sales this weekend. I woke up when it was still dark out to make it over this am so I could be back when I had to start work at 8am. I was the 2nd person in line and was able to run in and get all of the stuff I had my eye on with the help of my mom . It was worth the missed sleep! I came away with some of my favorite picks yet. Usually, I buy to resale but today it was all for keeps. There is still lots of great stuff at both sales so try to go by if you are in town and interested.

 Friday & Saturday –FEBRUARY  24th & 25th (7:30 a.m.– 5:00 p.m.)

2730 Lebanon Road, Donelson (Former Home of Two Rivers Ford)

Here are some of the great items I picked up!

4 hand blown jade finials that will be going in my pink and jade craft room (pics to come)
2 matching poppy vases for my mantle
Patchwork quilt made from old suit material
They had lots of beautiful glassware- I thought these looked like Anthropology!
Love the circus theme!
Inside they are lined with Atlas Mason jars. They will be perfect for camping this summer.

The other sale in in Old Hickory on Jones Street in the village. The neatest thing happened! I looked and saw an owl that my grandmother had made. I started to tear up and so did my mom. I was so excited!!! It made my day.  Back in the 70’s she would make and sale art on drift wood from the lake. A couple of years ago she taught me how to make them because I had always loved the ones she made. I use all the ones she gave me to decorate for Halloween and always keep out a couple year around. Here is the one I found!

Owls made by DaDa

If any of you pickers out there ever see anything with her signature below, pick it up for me and I will get you back 🙂

Her signature~ so cute

Here are my favorite things I got from the Jones Circle sale:

I had never seen a sewing basket like this and it was so weird that I bought 1 at the first sale and 1 at the other sale! They will be perfect in my craft room.
Lots of vintage children's clothing
Art Nouveau wooden box
2 antique santa stockings

Happy Hunting, everyone!

  1. I’m so coveting your purchases….if I didn’t love you so much I would be bitter.I’m obsessed with the jade finials, circus highballs, and plaid thermos. Seriously I have to get in on some of this with you sometime. GREAT STUFF! Good job! Finials will be kick-butt perfect in your pink room… everything you got
