Living Well with Acupuncture

This evening my mom and I had an appointment to visit our acupuncturist. We have been visiting him off and on for about 2 and a half years. We were skeptical when we first started but right off you can feel the benefits. My cousin started going and told us about it. I asked 10 million questions before I went the first time- especially because I almost always pass out when I get shots. But the needles are so small that you don’t really even feel them. After you go the first time and see how relaxing it is you can’t wait to go back. I usually fall asleep right when I lay down and wake up feeling refreshed. It is the same feeling you get after having a wonderful massage.

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicine. There are many benefits to acupuncture, our doctor has told us he can help anything but a broken bone.  I originally started going for weight loss but now I go for anything and everything! Every time I go I have them work on my sinuses and anything else that is bothering me whether it is a sore muscle, sinuses or just being stressed.

The first time it truly amazed me was when my sinuses were really messed up. The doctor told me to breath in and you could hear all of the congestion. He then placed a needle on a pressure point on my ear and told me to breath in again and it was completely clear! It was amazing and turned me into a believer. 🙂

Sometimes our doctor will apply push needles or ear beads that will be left in for about 2 weeks. The ear beads are mustard seeds that are placed and then taped on different pressure points.  Ear acupuncture is called Auricular acupuncture.  The ear is a microcosm of your whole body.  That means that you can treat anything by treating the ear points.

If you have never been to acupuncture I would highly recommend it! If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them as best I can!

Sara Beth

Dr. Brandon Jenkins in Goodlettsville also does acupuncture and would probably be more convenient. 420.6622. On our way home the other night mom and I were talking about how we haven’t seen you.
