Pickin’ at the World’s Longest Yard Sale 2012

This was our 4th year to set up on Signal Mnt. for the World’s Longest Yard Sale. It takes a lot of energy to get everything ready to go but we always have a great time once we are there. Last Wednesday,we rented a Uhaul and headed to the mountain pulling Vee (our 1970 VW). The goal is always to sell enough to drive home in Vee instead of renting another Uhaul.

We began selling bright and early on Thursday morning and sold through Sunday afternoon. It was raining when we got there and raining when the sell ended but other than that the weather was perfect.

Every year we have one featured item. This year it was 25th anniversary yard sale shirts. Our friend Valerie, came up with an awesome design and the t-shirts were a hit! People were asking if we could have them printed on Christmas ornaments and hats- Ha~ maybe a thought for next year! We still have a couple left that I will be listing on my etsy site soon. I will post when items are up but here is a link for now 🙂 http://www.etsy.com/shop/sarabethpegg?ref=si_shop

One of the best parts of the weekend was all of the people we got to meet. Here are a few of my favorites:

The Cowboy

The Farmer

The Hippies (AKA as Elmer and Mom)

We couldn’t do it without my mom! She works and sells the whole time and makes everything look so good.

The girl with the crazy hat

We loved that family stopped by on Saturday and got to spend the day with us. Also, a big THANK YOU to the Boehm family & my Aunt Sara and Uncle Sam for the hospitality and letting us take over there house for 5 days.

I think my niece has it in her blood too.  She brought stuff to the sale and then yesterday pulled out all of these clothes at my mom’s and tried to sell them to us.  I think we are going to have us a yard sale partner!

Selling and playing

So we completed our goal and came back in Vee and my moms car. The weekend was a success and lots of memories were made. If you haven’t been to the sale before, make plans to go next year! It is always the first weekend in August and you won’t be disappointed 🙂

Until next year…

Happy Pickin’!,

Sara Beth
